As temperatures drop, the weather turns messy and unpredictable in the northern hemisphere, it’s the perfect time to head south - just like the migratory birds! So why not treat yourself and get airborne again during this winter? Come and discover the joy of paragliding in paradise!
The Canary Islands - and especially Tenerife - are well-known winter paragliding destinations. Thanks to the mild climate and steady northeast winds, pilots from around the world love flying here. Tenerife delivers over 300 flyable days a year with the best flying conditions from October to April. The island boasts numerous launch sites, soaring ridges and thermal hotspots. Depending on the time of day, you can expect anything from gentle thermals to moderately strong ones, along with variable wind conditions. Ambitious pilots can enjoy spectacular flights from altitudes up to 2200 meters AMSL while more experienced ones will find plenty of opportunities for small cross-country (XC) flights.
That said, official infrastructure is limited: very few well-organized takeoff sites and no direct public transport to reach them. There is no assigned emergency radio frequency so communication is arranged by us when organizing the guided tours. Safe landing options are plenty but they can also be challenging without a proper site briefing from a local guide - you won’t find large, grassy fields here. Solid piloting skills and good orientation are essential when it comes to land. There may also be temporary restrictions or hazards that only locals are aware of. Because of the island’s microclimates, airspace restrictions and local regulations, flying with a local paragliding guide is really smart choice. We will look after your well-being, provide local weather insights and take you to the best flying spots each day.
How looks your paragliding day with a guide? We meet in the morning around 9:30-10am and begin our drive to the first flying location. Once we arrive, we'll have a brief overview and get ready for takeoff. You can count on our support at the launch site, as well as radio assistance throughout the flight. Between flights, we like to take time to relax over coffee or lunch and experience the local cousine. We fly as much as we wish and the weather conditions allow us. The day ends with the sunset and a cold beer. Time to relive your flying moments with your fellow pilots, get to know each other better and make new friends.

Requirements for pilots:
- valid pilot's license + insurance (3rd party liability, recommended: travel accident insurance)
- paragliding equipment (glider, harness, rescue parachute, helmet + flying instruments (e.g. vario/ GPS, compass, radio, phone with GPS)
- flying sites in Tenerife are quite demanding and require good take-off and landings skills as well as active flying knowledge
